(Date of Visit: September 2011)

The only reason I didn't camp here during my visit is because they didn't have a dump station.  Since I was going to be in a hurry to get to Petoskey next, I decided to stay at nearby Indian Lake State Park, about 35 miles to the west, and took a day trip from there.  I would have really liked to stay here, though, because not only is the campground nice and trails look inviting, I could have happily spent more than a day exploring the historic townsite.

CampButton    General Campground and Reservations Information:

There are a total of 61 sites, but some are suitable for tent use only.  Some RV sites have 50 amp electric service, but there is no water or sewer hookups at any site, and there is also no dump station or bathhouse on the grounds.  There are 4 water faucets located around the campground and 6 vault toilets.

I saw some older comments on RVParkReviews.com that the roads were rough, but they were in good shape when I was there.  Yes, you'll have to be careful maneuvering among the trees, but it certainly looked doable to me and especially the pull through sites were plenty big enough for large RVs.  The reservations page shows they have some sites suitable for 60' motorhomes.

There is an additional $8.00 charge to make a reservation, and I found the DNR Reservations page to be pretty user friendly.  After you enter your desired dates, criteria and type/size of RV, you'll get what sites are available to match your needs or be directed to a calendar to check alternate availability.
